Stop the excuses

Have you ever had a dream or an idea that you've been really excited about? Writing has been that for me. It's something I've always wanted to do but didn't really know where to start. And I wasn't quite sure I could do it, it wasn't exactly what I went to school for. But along came an opportunity to write an article, and then another article, and soon came the idea to start this blog. Even starting this blog came with more ideas and excitement.

Just when the excitement and encouragement became regular, here came the distractions and oppositions. And before I realized it, I had missed my own deadlines, several of them. It seemed like the more I tried to follow my passion and dream, the more things got in my way. Has that happened to you?

Has God given you an idea that you're excited about, something He has breathed right into you? If He has, what's stopping you from doing it? Sometimes it really isn't the right time or maybe it's more us than God, but a lot of the time it's really just us standing in our own way.

Today take a step back, look yourself in the mirror, and tell yourself to knock it off. You can do this. If God has called you to it, He will see you through it. And He'll equip you along the way. So stop lying to yourself, stop believing the wrong things, and take a step toward your God given dream. If it's to write a book, start with a journal or a blog. If it's to record an album, start with writing one song. If it's to open your own business, start with taking a business seminar. Today take just one step closer to your dream.

Stop the excuses and take a step closer to what God is asking you to do.

  1. This is a great post. I'm catching up some blogs I haven't read for a while. I'm proud of you getting your voice out there.
