Not that long ago, I was having a conversation with someone about love languages. When they found out mine was service they stopped for a moment and before leaving said hmmm, I’ll have to do a better job of showing that one to you than. Later that night, as I was thinking back to the conversation, I realized I felt a lot of appreciation from this family, but why? It hit me that it was because they constantly served my children. Every time we were with this family they would acknowledge them, say hello, pray for them when needed, and protect them if we weren’t close by. Their service to my children, in small ways and in large, was the best way anyone could serve me or show they valued and appreciated my family.
God used this moment to remind me that He looks at all people as His children. Every time one of us serves His children, no matter how young or how old, we are serving God. This in turn is showing Him our appreciation. A smile, a call, a conversation, prayer, tangible help; any positive contact to one of God’s children is service to Him. As you move into a busy Christmas week remember these thoughts:
“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40
Thank you for all you do. You are Jesus with skin on to so many people.
