Renew-Guest Post

Today I have the joy of featuring my dear friend, Sandra Libby. She blogs over at Luv 2 Laf please go and check out her blog today. I hope that each of you enjoy her perspective on renew as much as I did.Thanks for sharing Sandra!

You remind yourself several times that week.  It’s on your calendar.  They even give you a receipt and send you an e-mail reminder.  You clearly know that 3 weeks is 21 days.
But somehow, some way, sometimes our books still don’t always make it back to the library on time.  I consider myself pretty organized and I do for the most part get our books back on time…early even sometimes.  But life happens and sometimes the date comes and goes.  However, over the past couple of years our library has put everything online.  So now, I have the ability to renew…ONLINE!  I hop online, go to my account, see which books are due, check them off and hit the magic button…”renew”.
“Ahhhh”, I breathe a sigh of relief.  With a simple click, I just avoided penalty fees and bought myself 3 more weeks with those books (though I will probably return them within the next week!).  But how simple was that?  “Renew”.

Sometimes I wish my days were like that.  By 5:00 on some days, I wish I could just hit “renew”.  I wish I could take back my grumpy attitude, the penalties I may have incurred with my children or husband, my lack of spending time in God’s Word, that sarcastic comment or that act of selfishness.  But I can’t.  I can’t take it all back.  I can ask for forgiveness from my husband and children and the Lord, but I can’t take it back.  But what I can do is hit “renew”.

The Bible says in Lamentations that His mercies are new every morning.   Not just new when we deserve it.  Not new every year, month or week.  No, they are new EVERY morning.  Each morning when I awake, His mercy awaits me.  He knows we need it which is why He freely gives it each day.  And not only that, but He says that we are not consumed because his compassions never fail.  We don’t have to be consumed with our failures as parents, spouses or friends because He never fails in His compassion and mercy for us.
I am grateful and I am blessed to be given such a gift each day.

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
    therefore I will wait for him.

Lamentations 3:22-24

Which area of your life or day do you need to hit “renew”? Where do you need to feel his mercies new EVERY day?

Sandra Libby lives in NH with her husband, Dave and their 4 children.  Her days are busy with homeschooling her children…something she never planned on doing but now wouldn’t trade for the world.  She loves watching them learn and grow and counts it a privilege to be a part of that process.   If this mama gets any time to herself, she enjoys reading, digi-scrapping and creating.  She blogs for her family over at Luv 2 Laf.
