A set of stairs can be a regular thing in our lives. We go up, we go down, we might even sit and talk on the phone on them. But then there are other stairs that can stick out in our minds. Ones that may be creaky, spiral up, or lead into a dark basement where we can hardly see the next one. Those are the stairs that stick in our mind because we need to have faith in them to even walk up or down them, especially if we can't see the next step.
When we can't see the next step, or next building block in our lives, that's when we have to trust God the most. Especially if He's calling us to take that next step. It's similar to driving in a fog, we know the direction we're going but sometimes we can't see that far in front of us yet we know we need to keep going.
These last few months God has been pushing me to trust Him more than my vision of sight. To lean on Him and not on my own understanding. To remember that He knows the big picture when I only hold a puzzle piece of it. So for me that looked like trusting that God would provide for our soon to be 3rd child, getting a new job, and then this past week taking a step in my writing.
Thankfully God has been there to catch and guide me each time. And I get to enjoy the blessings that He had for me the whole time.
What step are you fearful to take? What step is God asking you to take even if you can't see where it leads?
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;6
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Take that step of faith, you can do it.
