When Words Just Don't Fix It

There are so many times that something big happens and you just don’t know what to say. So you open your mouth and out comes “I’m sorry” or another dumb phrase. It’s not your fault, so how can you be sorry?

Why, do we as people, feel like we always have to fix it. Like we have to be the ones to repair what’s broken. We can’t. God can though, He’s actually the only one that can.

We can fix broken machinery. We can glue or hammer something back together. But when things that need fixed can’t be mended with glue, screws, or nails, what do we do?

The only thing we can do---we turn to the One who can.And we cry. Or we pray. Or we just hug someone for dear life. Or we scream and punch the wall. Or maybe we bake and cook. Or we dance. Or we laugh, because if we don’t, we’ll cry.

And we try our best to trust God.

Things won’t make sense, and that’s ok. And it won’t be all hunky-dory right away, and that’s ok too. But in the end we realize that we’re not in control, God is, and that’s ok, it has to be, because it’s out of our hands.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Rom. 8:28
