A few weeks ago I got Rhinestone Jesus in the mail. I was thoroughly excited to be a part of Kristen Welch's launch team for her book. However I didn't expect the book to resonate so much with me.
#Yesinmymess has been her catch phrase: Saying Yes In My Mess. Not just yes to anyone but Yes to God.
Through laughing with my husband about it at the end of the night I couldn't help but feel like those two books were exactly my life. One crazy action led to another but through it all God was asking me if I was going to continue to say yes in the middle of my mess.
In Rhinestone Jesus, Kristen explains her story of how she went from a teenager wearing a Rhinestone Jesus pin to show her faith in Jesus to becoming the President of Mercy House in Kenya and showing her faith in real amazing ways to teenagers in Kenya and people around the world. It is a must read for anyone wanting to put real actions behind their faith. Or for anyone looking for the how to in doing so.
A caution though, this book is not ridden with guilt but it will call you to action. Each chapter ends with an Unpinned Faith section, take your time and really answer the questions for yourself.
"Saying yes is more about courage and faith than opportunity and success."
Throughout the book she reminds us that God can use you to do amazing things right where you're at. All it takes is a yes; doesn't matter if it's small or big, but once you say yes to what God is asking you to do, He can do amazing things with it. "You don't have to do something BIG for Him, just do something because your yes matters."
Is there something God is asking you to say yes to right now? Please share down below so we can pray for each other. For me I'm going to follow one of her examples in her book and try to find that one thing that our family can rally behind together. For Kristen and her family it was Mercy House. I'm not sure what it'll be for my family, but I'm excited to find out.
