Retreat Retreat!!

Armies maneuver themselves based on all kinds of things. Who has the highest ground? Where would be the best advantage? Where are the most resources? And it goes on and on. An army is always looking at where they are based with where they want to be and figuring out how they can get there. Usually the best route is to move forward, to take the plunge and charge ahead. But sometimes the best route is to retreat, to back down, to find rest and refuel. And in doing so they can regroup to take the high ground back at a more pivotal time.

Right now that's exactly where my family is at. We're retreating, we're taking a step backwards. People have told me, oh don't look at this season as that. But honestly I know that's exactly what this is. God knows our future, He knows exactly where we're going to be. And He also knows that for my family right now, allowing my husband to go back to college, for all 5 of us to live on a college campus, is the very best place for us. Does it make sense? No, not really, but that's ok, it doesn't have to.

My oldest daughter Abbey and I are memorizing a scripture together right now during this season. And it helps remind us that we're not in control of our own plans, but God is.

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord.
"They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Plans for a future and a hope. Good plans. If God is calling you to take a step backwards, to retreat from where you're headed, remember this. God is not trying to cause you disaster, He has plans for you, good ones. It's your choice though to follow His good plans or to go on your own.
